+++ German ++ Propaganda +++

Many of the books displayed here are exceedingly rare. Immediately after the War, the Allies were faced with the question of what to do with the tremendous amount of “offensive”material that had been published during the previous fifteen years. A decision was made to destroy it all. The German population was ordered to burn all suspect items, with penalties imposed on anyone found in possession of them. Even libraries were included under this decree. A list of these banned publications, containing more than 35,000 entries, is available on the internet. Among them are all of the books, pamphlets, and posters contained in this archive.
